2-3 CZERWCA 2025

Dear Sir/Madam,

We invite you to participate in the GIG-PIB Jubilee Conference and to submit paper titles along with the author team on topics related to the main theme:
Mining the Future: Sustainable Development and Energy Transformation in the European Union

The conference will take place on June 2–3 this year at the headquarters of GIG-PIB and will bring together distinguished experts, representatives of scientific and industrial communities, as well as public administration, to jointly discuss the future of the raw materials sector and its role in Europe’s sustainable development.

The first day will be dedicated to the energy transition, with a special focus on mining regions. European experiences in best practices, structural transformations, and socio-economic adaptation will be discussed, with particular reference to the processes taking place in Poland. Key topics will include new models for redeveloping post-mining areas and utilising their potential, the impact of the transition on the economy and local communities, and the challenges related to the retraining of mining sector workers.

The second day of the conference will focus on the future of mining and its role in the circular economy. Discussions will cover topics such as the use of mining expertise in the extraction and processing of mining waste (anthropogenic mining), the recovery of critical raw materials and rare earth elements from waste, secondary resources, and modern processing technologies, as well as innovative solutions supporting sustainable resource management.

Participation in the conference is subject to a fee and requires prior registration. The number of seats is limited, so we encourage early registration.
